What service you provide and where do you sit in your industry?

A National Museum

What was the problem you needed to solve?

Portable extraction for use with conservation chemicals and lasers.

How was the problem dealt with previously or if it’s a new problem how did it arise?

We have fixed LEV trunking, and we had a few large portable extractors. However, for a specific project, we required a small portable extractor which could be easily be moved.

What made you reach out to Purex?

We were looking for a small extractor which could be used as part of an exhibition and we needed the extractor to fit on a desktop or trolley.

What was communication like with Purex?

We had a salesperson come to the museum to assess our needs and we quickly received a quotation. We first purchased a Fume Cube in 2008 and have purchased other Purex extractors since then.

What products and services were used?

  • We have several Purex Fume Cubes and Purex 400i.
  • We use Purex for annual testing of all our portable LEV, which includes non-Purex brands also.

How did we solve the issue?

Purex were helpful in recommending a Fume Cube which suited our needs and budget.

Would you recommend Purex?

As one of the parts of our Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems at the Museum, it is useful to have Purex portable extractors that we can adjust the height of and location of the extraction arms to our specific requirements. The Purex extractors which we use with our laser, have adjustable flow and we can monitor the capacity of the chemical filter, which is helpful for Health and Safety management.

Don't just take our word for it…

We have received a good service from Purex. The engineers at Purex are very helpful whether it is answering questions during the annual testing or advising via email on the correct filter for use with specific chemicals.
