Environmental Policy

We will ensure that every aspect of our activities is conducted in accordance with sound environmental practices.

We will achieve this by:

  • Minimising the consumption of natural resources and energy, whilst    consuming material goods in moderation
  • Reducing the creation of waste by the adoption of improved operating practices and by the recycling of materials whenever practical
  • Ensuring all waste and effluent is disposed of in a safe and responsible manner
  • Investing in the development of new products and processes that have an improved performance regarding their impact on the environment
  • Complying with environmental legislation

Purex aims to foster among its staff, suppliers, customers, and communities local to its operations an understanding of environmental issues in the context of its business. Our collective task is to ensure that we continually improve the environmental impact of our total global activities.

By this policy Purex recognises its responsibility towards protection of the environment, and issues this statement as a commitment of both management and employees to minimising the environmental impact of its operations.

Health & Safety Policy

The Directors of Purex International Ltd. recognise and accept their responsibilty to safeguard, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all employees and of all other persons who may in any way be affected by the actions or undertakings of the Company, together with the security and protection of Company property.

It is the duty of all personnel to conform to this policy and the associated safety codes and regulations applicable to the Company's premises and activities, along with the legal responsibilities placed upon them by the Health & Safety at Work Act, in respect of safeguarding themselves and other personnel. Management must ensure that arrangements for Health & Safety have been made and all personnel with responsibilities are adequately delegated in their absence.

Whilst legal requirements must be complied with at all times, safety can best be promoted by the continual vigilance and constant re-appraisal of working methods by all personnel.

The aims and objectives, specific responsibilities for health, safety and welfare and the working arrangements for achieving this policy are detailed in the separate Purex Health & Safety manual. The manual forms part of this policy.

The Directors are committed to the implementation of this Policy for the common good and will give the full backing to those who endeavor to carry it out.

Supplier Standard

Suppliers are required to comply, where applicable, with the requirements and principles of the Purex’s Ethics Policy and to perform all activities associated with the supply of goods and services in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to environmental and health and safety matters.

Suppliers are required to ensure that no goods or services supplied to any member of the  Purex are produced utilising forced, indentured or convict labour or the labour of persons in violation of the laws in the country of manufacture concerning minimum working age, minimum wage, hours of service or overtime.

Suppliers are required: 

  • not to give or receive bribes  in connection with the supply of goods or services  to members of the Purex.
  • to use reasonable endeavours to ensure that their employees, associated companies, agents or  suppliers do not give or receive bribes  in connection with the supply of goods or services to members of the Purex. For this purpose, a bribe means any financial or other advantage given to: 
    • someone to persuade them to act improperly or to reward them for acting improperly;
    • a public official to influence them in carrying out their duties.

Suppliers are required to have established and effective program to ensure all suppliers it utilises to provide any goods or services to any member of the Purex will comply with the requirements set out in this Standard.

If the Supplier commits any material breach of this Standard, any Supply Agreement in force with that Supplier may be immediately terminated.
